Tariq Mohammed has over eight years of experience as a certified squash coach. He earned his Masters in Education with a specialization in coaching at Boston University. He was honored by the United States Olympic Committee as the 2011 Developmental Coach of the Year for Squash.
Currently he is in his fifth year as the Head Coach for Girls and Boys Squash at Concord Academy. Under his leadership, the girls varsity team has won 2 consecutive Eastern Independent League (EIL) titles along with 2 EIL Most Valuable Players and 3 EIL All-League players.
During the fall, Tariq teaches a physical education class at Concord Academy called “Beginning Squash.” In the spring he supervises co-ed intramural squash. He has also coached recreational squash at Commonwealth School.
Prior to joining CA, Tariq was a squash instructor at Phillips Academy Andover. In addition, he has coaching experience as an Associate Coach at Tufts University and Coaching Assistant at Harvard University. He has taught private lessons, clinics and camps to a broad spectrum of players both in the United States and abroad. A former #1 player at Bowdoin College and Maine State Champion, he co-captained the men’s team in 1999 to a national Top 10 finish.
Concurrently, Tariq is a Project Manager with Complete Sports Solutions, a boutique sports marketing company that promotes life sports with a focus on squash. In 2006, Tariq was part of the team that staged the Super Series Squash Finals, featuring the world’s top eight players at the Broadgate Arena in London, England. Furthermore he served as the Technical Director for Complete Squash Camps at Harvard.
At the grassroots level, Tariq is a Director of Kidsquash, a 501c3, nonprofit, community squash program that encourages wellbeing through sport. He played a key role in securing multiple grants from United States Squash and Massachusetts Squash. He is also a founding member of Khelshala, a registered charity in India that combines squash, tutoring, yoga and music to benefit underprivileged children.
An American citizen, Tariq was born in the United Arab Emirates and schooled in the United Kingdom, India and Saudi Arabia. Earlier in his career Tariq worked as a researcher at the Center for International Development at Harvard University. Prior to working at Harvard, Tariq interned at the Aga Khan Foundation USA. During 2003-2004, he served as a United Nations Volunteer in Uganda based at Makerere University where he co-established an educational program to enable disadvantaged youth. Thereafter, a stint with Reebok’s Human Rights Programs confirmed his passion to promote human development through education.
